Jayne Bourke
Known especially for beautiful landscapes and plein air paintings infused with light and color, Jayne’s work reflects the joy of the land, sea and the interesting people around her. She is an established artist and her work often appears in regional exhibits, solo shows and juried competitions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, the United States, and internationally, often winning awards and recognition for her distinctive style and subjects.
Trained as an illustrator and graphic designer, Jayne has achieved distinction as an art director for large corporate clients, universities, hospitals, federal government, publishers, performing artists, and later as a landscape architect. Her paintings reflect varying degrees of realism to abstraction, infused with a strong impressionistic quality characterized by rich color, light and a personal response to her subjects.
Her abstract and non-representational work is vibrant, energetic and original, relying on strong design, personal mark-making style, sophisticated color palettes and both relatable and provocative motifs. Her work quality is consistent, professional and collectable. Her life experience, enthusiasm, curiosity and visual aesthetic all combine to inspire her paintings, many of which are enjoyed by private collectors and included in hospital/health care institutions' permanent collections, as well.
Her primary mediums include oil, gouache and acrylic. Commissions are welcomed.
